Before your identity is created

A keypair is generated in this browser

Using Ed25519, a standard digital-signature algorithm. The private key is the root of your identity — whoever holds it, is you.

It is encrypted and stored only on this device

Your PIN derives an encryption key (PBKDF2, 600,000 iterations) and the private key is sealed with AES-GCM in this browser's IndexedDB. It is never transmitted.

Only your public key is registered

XityConnect receives the public key and your derived address (starting with xity1). That is all.

Your PIN cannot be reset by anyone

Not by you, and not by us — there is no server copy. If you lose it, only the recovery process can restore access, and only with proofs you set up in advance.
